Why social media first

Young people don't go looking for the local paper; they spend their time on social media. So that's where we report: creative, opinionated, and sometimes disruptive stories about Denton's people, places, culture, and civic life, made to be watched, shared, and talked about.

• Our home is Instagram (@dntn_news). Our audience there is the core of what DNTN! is: an engaged, local, young following that sees our stories where it already spends its time.
• Our reels are complete stories, not teasers for an article. People get the whole story without leaving the app, which is why our stories get shared so widely in Denton.
• dntn.news is the permanent record: full reporting with sources, for search engines, citations, and anyone who wants the details.

Coverage area

• Our focus is the city of Denton, Texas. Most of our stories are based in Denton, happen in Denton, or are about Denton.
• We sometimes cover stories from elsewhere in Denton County when they matter to Denton locals. We decide case by case, and most out-of-city pitches are declined.
• We don't cover stories from outside Denton County unless they have a clear Denton connection.
